Why dividend has not been credited for pledged shares?

Hi All,

I am holding few shares of GMDC which were already in a pledged state on 21st Sep, 2016.
21th Sep, 2016 was the Ex-Dividend date to receive a dividend of Rs. 3 per share.
Till date (18th Oct, 2016), no dividend has been credited in my account.

Can somebody please clarify?
Any help will be appreciated!!!

Regards,
Mangesh

It would depend on the company giving out the dividends, some companies take upto 3 months from the Record date to payout the dividends, some companies do it within a week. Record date is used for reference to ascertain which clients should get the dividend. You should get in touch with your broker to figure the reasons for not getting the dividend credit.

I pledged 1200 shares of 1700 of Infosys with Zerodha. Today I got the dividend only for 500 shares. But Zerodha says the dividend payment is not effected by pledging. Can some one Kindly clarify?

You received the dividend for the 500 shares that were in your Demat. The remaining 1200 shares that were pledged lies in Zerodha’s Demat, so the dividend will be credited to Zerodha. This dividend will, in turn, be credited to your trading account as you are still the beneficiary of all corporate actions on your pledged shares.

But where and how will it reflect?

The dividend received on pledged shares will be credited to your trading account and the entry will be made in the ledger. You can view your Q ledger for this.

Under Which section of Console or Kite I can get this?

Check this link and enter appropriate date range

By my knowledge, pledging and dividend payments are two fully different things. In this sense, dividend payouts should be conducted by company to all its shareholders. What you do with your shares is not an issue of that company. Even if shares are pledged, you should be able to get your dividend
