NSE’s market cap has crossed ₹5.30 lakh crore because investor interest is growing fast with its IPO expected in mid-2025. Strong financials, consistent profits, and a sharp rise in unlisted share prices (up 72% this year) are pushing its valuation higher.
Few reasons i can think of:
-
Settlement with SEBI therefore removing the major overhang on the company -India’s NSE offers $118 million to settle Sebi case, revive IPO - The Economic Times
-
Some clarity around weekly expiry days. Pushing for Tuesday
-
Amongst the top exchanges globally; Valuations too reasonable when compared to BSE. I think it is catching up

Let’s see if I understand this correctly, NSE is willing to settle with SEBI by paying ₹1,000 cr, and NSE, and everyone involved in this wrongdoing, are absolved of their crimes, just like that?
If they are not at fault, why are they settling with SEBI?
So, commit whatever financial fraud or scam you want, just settle with SEBI and you are given a clean chit? Wow!!
NO prosecution for the ones involved in this wrongdoing?
( ie., the management of NSE or high-frequency traders who benefited from this unfair advantage)
It defies all logic, an exchange, which is supposed to be transparent and provide a level playing field to all its participants, breaks this very trust on more than one occasion, and its shares are on demand and its valuation keeps rising? Simply because it’s a duopoly, and NSE will continue to profit as long as the market exists. Great!!
