Why mutual funds are not directly made available via Kite?

I have been using zerodha for the last 7 years. As an fno trader I normally pledge mutual funds and then use the margin for trading. But sometimes when I want to move money between instruments available on Kite(BEES and LIQUID CASE) and MFs available on Coin, I find it pretty much annoying.

  1. Basically I have to book profits on one platform, get the credits in bank account and then buy on the other platform.
  2. This creates artificial entries in the bank account also.
  3. The performance curve on Kite is impacted by such redemption since money booked on mutual funds and then added to Kite account is not treated as a profit but as payin. Till now I have to manually raise ticket and get this corrected.

So with all these above issues in mind, why can’t the mutual funds be integrated into kite itself?

MF transactions are processed through the registered bank account as per the current regulatory framework. This means both payments for purchases and credits from redemptions have to flow through the bank account, so that part isn’t something we can change.

We’re working on bringing mutual fund buy and sell to Kite, so you won’t have to switch between apps. We’ll share more once we’re closer to launch.
