Why Transaction/Turnover Charges for OPTIONS trading is higher than futures and equity trading?

NSE charges Rs 210/crore for futures turnover and Rs 5100/crore on options premium turnover. So what you need to realize is that on options it is on the premium turnover and not the contract turnover.

So if you buy and sell 1 lot of Nifty options at Rs 100, you make a turnover of Rs 10,000 (and not Rs 8lks contract turnover).

That said, even 5100/crore on premium turnover is quite high and hopefully NSE will reduce this with time.
