With todays scenario in middle east and the new big war in many parts of world looming let’s consider if something bad happens. Then with threat to internet in mind how much secure is our money in online trading accounts or in shares. Coz before internet there were papers trading and physical certificates but what if internet blocked or something bad happen is there any backup plan for Traders.
exchanges will be closed for days/months depend on severity but nothing will happen to money in trading account as the money is kept in current account of banks backed by rbi.
but cant say that to other areas like cryptos, pretty sure owners of those online wallets will run away with it.
rare metals will sky rocket.
oh and with electricity and servers gone so is cryptos. always keep rare physical metals as doomsday backup.

It is because of this, you need to take periodic demat statements, print it and file it. No point keeping the statement in email as internet will be doomed in case of ww3. I am sure CDSL or NSDL will have disaster sites across the globe. International Banks maintain disaster sites in different part of the world.
Something similar happened few years ago in Chennai when there was rain/flooding, a colleague like all of us had kept original title deed of property in a locker, the locker was on the ground floor and as it was a big box, the specific locker was on the ground. Continuous rain flooded the branch and water seeped into the locker and everything was pulp when he went to open it.
Although Government department were very helpful, they were saying it would help if he could give some reference number or copy of the title deed to issue duplicate.
The importance of taking important paper copies and filing is important.
Your post made me take my demat copies and place it in a folder. Need to print it out as well at a later date.

Hi @Vivs_Mishra Everything you see around is fiat money which will become usless when nations fight nations. Gold or as a matter of fact any metal wouldn’t have any value.
What would have value is the skills that you have. Invest more in real world skills. When the doomsday arrives, its gonna be the law of the jungle.
Think primitive to survive. Do modern to thrive.

So what if internet is blocked. at worst you won’t be to trade/invest. Nothing will happen to your stocks.
It is more likely internet will be blocked due to some unrest in our country rather than possibilities of WW3.

in movies yes, in reality no. every country knows the consequence of nuke, its not like ww2 where only one country had nuke then used it to end the war, now whoever uses nuke will be bombarded back. even if some suicidal maniac decided to use it, why would survivors and other who unaffected by nuke have to go into jungle and live like caveman? by your logic people in japan should be using stone tools now.

Tactical nukes are what would be deployed first, in an escalation game. The political consequences would be far more damaging than any real fallout.
