Zerodha bought stocks from BSE when I placed an order for NSE

Hello all,

I bought X company stocks from NSE in May 2020 and it started reflecting in portfolio page in zerodha app. Then few weeks back I wanted to add more quantity hence in android app, I placed an AMO order by navigating to portfolio > tapped on stock that I had > box opened and I placed AMC order when it was showing NSE as an exchange.
however when I received a contract note, it showed BSE even I received mail from BSE. Why this has happened? Has this also happened with others as well?
I have opened a ticket # 20200723511652 however instead of giving a reason for Why, support team is answering like

The stocks in your demat account don’t have any exchange mapped to them. You can sell them either on NSE or BSE, irrespective of where you bought the stocks. Kite reflects holding value as per the price on the exchange where the previous closing was higher

I see this is purely a technical issue at Zerodha.

It doesn’t make any difference where you Buy shares from BSE or NSE, scrips trading on both Exchanges are same. You don’t have to worry about anything.

Today problem is with exchange, tomorrow it could be with script… you want to sell X and Y got sold.

I don’t think that was the question. OP wanted to know why the order got executed in BSE when they selected NSE explicitly…
