NPCI is a not-for-profit entity yet it has come up with technologically advanced payment solutions like IMPS, UPI, Bharat Billpay etc. and I have a lot of respect for what they have achieved so far.

With private players getting into this segment -

  1. Is there a threat to our personal data? The entities would know what people are paying for? If yes, buying behaviour could be manipulated.

  2. The for-profit entities going in for NUE, will they pass on their cost on to individual consumers using their service to earn profits?

I think that would probably happen because there was a news report that even NPCI will be given a choice to convert to a for-profit company -
