About the Book club category

We all know that reading is one of the best ways to increase your smarts, learn new things and grow personally. We all have a long lists of books we’d like to read and most often that not, the list gets longer and the books we finish reading shorter :grimacing: Or at least, that’s been my experience

People read more when they’re reading it with friends or if they’re part of a group which becomes a nudge and a commitment device. When you’re part of a group, you’ll end having a lot of discussions, which make the act of reading a whole lot more insightful and enjoyable. It’s also a nice way to learn more because you’ll be exposed to diverse perspectives, and you can fill in the blanks in your understanding.

This is what makes book clubs so amazing. They are a wonderful way to read and learn more. Not just read, but they are also a way to make new social connections. Given that most book clubs are quite small or aren’t accessible to most people, we thought we’d set one up on Tradingqna. If not for any other reason, out of my own selfishness to read more

The idea is to pick one book, mostly about finance, and read, discuss, debate interesting things together.

We’ll pick one book a month and as you read along, you can keep updating the thread about your progress, share interesting aspects from the books, ask questions, share related reading and research. Hopefully, this will help all of us read and learn more.

Along with the discussion, we also invite the writers to do AMAs on Tradingqna and other live interactions on social media and YouTube so that you can pick their brains.

A few housekeeping items

  1. Please keep the discussion civil even if you disagree with someone. Don’t get personal or resort to name-calling and profanity.
  2. Don’t share links to pirated books. The writers invest an enormous amount of time and effort, and it’s a labor of love for them. Please buy original books and support the authors. Contrary to what you might think, most writers don’t make a lot of money.
  3. No spoilers. You can instead share the book location and get others to read and then start a discussion.
  4. And finally, share as much as you can, engage with others and enjoy this.

As always, this won’t work without your feedback. So please keep giving your feedback and suggestions.
