Can I open demat account with ePan?

Can an individual open demat account with ePan card? No one is talking about this topic. My friend only has epan card with no signature on it and this is why he is not opening the demat account. @Alwin @ShubhS9 @Meher_Smaran

Yes I opened one using it via digilocker.
Physical PAN was not required.

What if any broker asked physical one later for any kyc issue.

Generally physical PAN is not asked. If it’s then apply for a physical PAN from NSDL or UTI by paying 50. Remember the PAN no will be the same. It will just print a PVC card and deliver to you.

At Zerodha, there is no need to upload a copy of your PAN card. As long as your PAN is valid, you can open an account without providing any proof of the PAN card.

Few years back Zerodha asked customers to upload PAN Card copy while opening account. Right?

Yes, KYC requirements have eased down a bit, hence the change.
