To add one more defect: I see quantity is a decimal value now, which was (and should be) a integer. Eg Qty 3 is being shown as 3.000000 !!!
Hey @sijick, are you looking at the discrepancy page? Weâve made this change to enable clients to add discrepant trades for both equity and MF (which may not be whole qtyâs) instruments.
Some weird issue in tagging at my end. For SGBs in my portfolio, I created a tag âgoldâ. And tagged my SGBs to it. But, when I refresh the page, the tags appear randomly across SOME of the other holdings in the portfolio, even though I did not tag them to âgoldâ.
Not sure if this is already reported, but please have a look when you can.
and thanks for introducing this facility, but, given that there are so many issues posted above, maybe have a smaller set of beta testers/users who would willingly test these functionalities. You can always compensate them in some way. Rolling out untested products creates bitterness.
And I know, we are the ones who keep pushing and asking you when such new facilities are coming through! ![]()
Hey @imnishantg, This shouldnât be happening. Can you provide us your client id so that we can have it checked?
Thanks, Nakul, for your prompt reply.
Iâve shared the details through DM.
I am facing the same issue. All scripts in my holding have been tagged as gold. And this happened after I received a response on my ticket that itâs been resolved. Ticket # 20210202410967
@nithin just wanted to bring to your kind notice that there have been multiple rounds of goof-ups happening on this feature. Even the ticket was wrongly closed saying itâs been resolved. I am telling you because the underlying code and algorithm donât look so difficult. Itâs database management in the end. And team Zerodha has done much more complicated tasks than this. So either the developer is new and is learning at the cost of our bad experience or the developer is going through a bad phase in life - breakups/ family issues, or some kind of WFH lockdown depression etc or maybe the developer is serving notice period or is planning to quit soon. This needs to be looked upon and addressed by HR because the underlying issue is just about paying attention to detail.
As said earlier this tagging is in beta only, we want to get some feedback from users on how they prefer to have this option so released. If it is related to trading part we would have not released. No need to assume anything about the development teams, just that we released it early to know user preferences.
Ok. Noted.
Maybe âAlphaâ release is a better word than âBetaâ in this case?
Not sure if Iâm breaking any posting rules here, so mods should feel free to delete this post.
I can imagine the frustration you or others might have about this new feature, but
- You are assuming quite a bit about the backend, which could very well be wrong
- You are assuming quite a lot about the people behind this, which, I think, is bordering on abusive and was in really bad taste!
Maybe they shouldnât have released it to everyone but only to a selected proportion. But not sure how it gives us the reason to be that nasty!
For Zerodha team - Maybe for next time, just roll it for a stratified sample among the people who opt to test your beta features (you can ask that as a survey).
It was not a complaint. But out of concern. Now read it again.
@Nakul I am talking about Console>Reports>Tradebook>CSV Download. Please check the quantity values. These are decimal now in Console 2.0, instead of integer.
Just to give you a background, firstly the CSV report was missed out in Console 2.0, and after considerable follow-ups it was added. Now I see that the (1) column order has been changed, (2) a new column called âseriesâ, and (3) quantity is now decimal instead of integer. Hope you will rectify them back to the format as it was in Console 1.0.
(1)
OLD Format: trade_date,tradingsymbol,exchange,segment,trade_type,quantity,price,order_id,trade_id,order_execution_time
NEW Format: symbol,trade_date,exchange,segment,series,trade_type,quantity,price,trade_id,order_id,order_execution_time
I agree. Date should be the first column. I had also noticed it.
Tagging experience is not uniform across all segments/stocks. For some it works and for some stocks it doesnât tag at all.I am free for a live session if you guys want to have a look
@Nakul @TheGouda, yes. One more thing. The tags are not shown in mobile view when one visits Console from Kite App. I have updated ticket# 20210202410967 with a screenshot.
More issues
As an experiment, I created a tag âstockâ and applied it to all the stocks I have individually. Some of the stocks do not get tagged at all. I tried tagging them multiple times, it never showed an error and kept showing it is getting updated⌠but it never does.
Snapshot below
Also:
- To apply for every tag, I have to click 3-4 times on every entity. If you want adoption of this feature, you might want to have a way to let the user add tags with much lower inertia
- Every time I add a tag to a stock/MF and close the pop-up for tagging, the page automatically scrolls up to the top. You might want to freeze it where it was.
@sudheer_kumar someone from our team will get in touch.
@rupeshmandal weâre getting this checked. Youâll be updated on the ticket.
@imnishantg could you please DM your client ID? Weâll look into the possibilities to reduce the number of clicks for tagging and your feedback on keeping the holdings page static after tagging.
I just checked my holdings after a few days and all my tags have vanished. I can still see my tags in the filter section.

I am facing one problem. Suppose I apply breakdown tags to a stock, one with tag investing with quantity 10, another with tag swing with quantity 5. Now, if I apply filter with tag investing, it still shows total 15 quantity under investing. This is defeating the purpose of tagging for me as I want to see only 10 stocks under investing and 5 under swing. Please help.
Suggestion for tagging feature enhancement It would be good if this tagging is made as an optional field during the order placement itself.
My intention for the suggestion was if any person is making a random trade/investment without prior planning/thought ,seeing the tags would atleast make them think twice before the order placement .I know that post trade also we can tag the trade, but I think this suggestion would be a proactive one.
What do you guys think? Would it be a value add or waste of resources, not much useful?
Yeah, our aim is to have that, will take some time.
