Hi @SHIKHA_MEHTA, the SGB issued in December 2023, isn’t yet listed on the exchanges, so it will not show in your holdings on Kite. However, you can check it in Console holdings with ISIN number: IN0020230168.

The listing date hasn’t been announced yet. Once it is listed on the exchanges, it’ll start showing in Kite holdings.

This has been listed on the exchanges today. Symbol: SGBDE31III-GB (NSE) and SGBDEC31 (BSE).

How long does it take to pledge new SGBs?

Hi @iamitp Once you purchase SGBs from the secondary market, it will take T+2 days for the SGB to show up in your account as per the settlement cycle. Do note that any new series of SGB shall not be instantly activated for pledging. (It generally takes somewhere btwn 4-8 weeks) You can verify the list of SGBs currently approved by Clearing Corporation for pledging by searching for a circular named Revised list of Approved Securities and Approved Banks in NSE Website. Last week I was able to pledge in one of my account. Today, when I tried to create a pledge in another account, Zerodha was not allowing me to do it. The error msg is " This instrument cannot be pledged". Can I know the exact reason for not allowing me today (It is a generic error msg). Thanks in advance,

This SGB (SGBDE31III) is already allowed for pledging. We allow pledging of newly introduced G-Secs and SGBs within 2-3 days post their listing on the exchanges. Refer to this thread -

Immediate pledge of newly issued G-Secs and SGBs

When new G-Secs or Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) are issued by the RBI, investors who want to pledge them for margin for trading in the F&O segment would wait until they appear in the exchange-approved list.

However, from now on, the newly issued G-Secs and SGBs can be pledged immediately after they are listed on the exchanges, without waiting for them to be added to the pledging list.
