Very cute profile pic. How to download it.

damnā¦
Canāt you get all this information on the broker or just trading view or even stocks app on iPhone?
Whatās is/are the source(s) of the various announcements in column-K ?
@Kiyoto_Kai Zerodha? Apart from % change, it doesnāt really give much.
TradingView? Itās good, but still not this detailed ā and definitely not this customizable.
Feels like you might be judging the sheet just by the column names. Thereās a lot going on under the hood. For example, the way I calculate volatility isnāt the same as TV. And yHighDiff? No app gives that directly ā sure, you can calculate it, but for someone like me trading manually, every second saved matters.
Yeah, you can see data like whatās in columns G, H, and I on TV ā but can you highlight when G crosses H? Not really. You can set conditions, but that restricts the view and hides stocks that donāt meet those exact filters.
Also, every stock name in column A is a clickable link that opens the Kite chart. I donāt even use the Kite watchlist ā I trade straight from this sheet.
At the end of the day, this setup fits my style: no BS, minimalist, zero tab switching ( kite - streak - tv ) and zero indicators. Just raw, actionable data ā the way I like it.
From personal experience i can attest that having a custom terminal helps a lot with being able to focus on oneās own pre-determined strategy. Easier to not get distracted with the bunch of other details, that are noise, as far as oneās specific strategy is concerned.
The 2 most significant reasons why i think this will not work out, are -
-
I wonāt be satisfied/fulfilled developing tools to enable folks to take undue risk / illogical strategies. Am not sure there are any potential clients if i state that i will develop custom trading tools ONLY if i agree with their strategy.
-
Folks stuck in a scarcity mindset will cling on to their āsecret strategyā with more fervor than their trading account password; and wonāt discuss it with anyone, even to have a custom terminal developed for it/them.
IMHO, best bet remains to continue discussing/sharing ideas on forums like this, and maybe share some code or tools someday. Maybe the tech-oriented audience is on the API forum(s)?
PS: If anyone reading this has any idea/strategy for which they would like to explore creating tools for themselves, please start a topic thread. There appear to be atleast a handful of folks on this forum already who can help create such tools or share an initial demo to get you started.
@Galaxy Whether prudence or not, the fact that folks wonāt discuss their strategies, makes it impractical to create custom tools for their strategy.
I believe that when referring to strategies of retail traders as a collective, āscarcity mindsetā is more apt, as most strategies (if we can even call them that) are losers (the strategies, not a dig at the people) as is evident from the stats year over year. The best potential returns from such strategies that one could have received would be the learnings (by researching/studying it, by deploying it, by discussing it) and not any monetary gains.
Also, i suspect that i did not get my point about the scarcity mindset across properly. By scarcity mindset, i am referring to thinking of an idea/strategy one has as the edge and trying to āmilk itā for as long as one can extract value from it, is having a scarcity mindset.
The alternative is an abundance mindset. Basically, knowing that ideas and strategies are dime a dozen. Basically, if one has a secret startegy today, and if one were to share it with the world and eliminate any edge one might have had, having an abundance mindset is being confident that one will be able to come-up with the next strategy, an even better one than before.
It is easy to overtake someone who is āmilking their current advantageā. Folks/companies that continue to lead for a long time understand this and hence do not hesitate from cannibalising their own legacy themselves using alternate experimental/innovative approaches in a controlled manner over time.
To continue the analogy of gold in a locker,
if one has figured out gold as a secret investment,
rather than keep it in a locker and tell noone about it (scarcity mindset),
one would happily tell everyone about investing in gold,
and while everyone else is rushing to pick-up gold,
liquidate oneās gold holdings (for a neat profit)
and start collecting titanium instead,
or still better get oneself some exposure to cocoa if it is early 2024 (abundance mindset).
You tell me @Galaxy.
It is your broken analogy, that you introduced to debate about
why something you suggested and i responded as not practical possible
and now you are arguing why it is not practically possible, yourself.
Building a Straw man - Wikipedia and knocking it down is fun.
But, it doesnāt advance the conversation.
Also, you seem to have taken offense at someone not willing to talk about their secret strategy, being called out as having a scarcity mindset. I donāt see any negative connotations associated with a āscarcity mindsetā. So not sure why we need to defend/justify adopting a scarcity mindset.
You see a desert directly ahead of us - Scarcity mindset justified.
I see a vast blue ocean just beyond it - Abundance mindset justified.
Getting back on track, all iām saying is that based on my experience on this forum (and outside), when it comes to trading strategies, most (not all) folks adopt a scarcity mindset, which basically eliminates any possibility of deeper detailed discussions about the strategy, including tooling/automation for the strategy.
That said, from time to time, a small number of folks do pop-up on this forum and start discussion threads with an abundance mindset. I continue to hope for that number to keep going up over time, and we have plenty of discussions and learnings to share all around.
Is being rich(er) better? Is it a āwinā ?
1.Could you explain in what meaningful way that would actually help many?
2.And ā¹100, really? That choice says a lot about the depth of your thought ā or the lack of it.
Ohhh⦠very sorry. I misconstrued that. Though I am not a wizard programmer, but yeah, if you need any help, feel free to dm me, and I donāt need money but thatās rs 100 jibe was personal, tbh
