Updates to positions page on Kite web

To simplify the options menu on the positions page on Kite web, we have made a couple of enhancements.

  1. Change in options menu position

Earlier, to access the options menu, you had to hover over the position. With the new update, we have shifted it to the right side of the page for quicker access.

  1. Redesigned dropdown menu

We have redesigned the dropdown menu to avoid clutter. The updated dropdown menu now gives you quick access to the most used options, such as exit, add, convert, and position information.

pls add edit options in exit window when we exit multi leg strategy. if i have 5k lots of nifty multileg options i would’nt want to exit all in one go, it will cause injection and may lead to loss or lesser profit. bcos of this i open 4 windows side by side to exit 4leg strategy in smaller quanties. even sensibul dont have easy way to exit, its either exit all or go through exit process so many times to exit in small quantities.

here is an example:

@ShubhS9 thats cool - thanks

This makes it even more inconvenient.

Why I should not be able to click anywhere on the position to go this menu rather than hovering and searching.

Very Unnecessary and very inconvnient change indeed. Either it should be reverted to previous mid- screen or clicking anywhere on the the entire position should take me to this option.

Not sure who is giving these ideas to Zerodha or they generate in-house to kill Kite

lol- there is no short -key to exit ‘existing’ positions!!! This is a very basic feature and should be there.

It’s extremely inconvenient for multiple Display monitors. As now the link is at extreme right and at edge of the widow…for those with extended screen it’s nightmare now!
Please provide click any where on positions to open the menu.

Totally agree!

In fast paced trading, there should be a short-key to buy / sell existing positions also

Hello @ShubhS9 @Arockiya_Raja ,

The redesigned option menu is great, as it provides quick access most used options, which is really helpful.

However, I find the position of the menu quite inconvenient. It appears at the extreme right of the screen, making it less accessible (Since the option menu is on the extreme right, and when we click on any option, it opens a pop-up in the middle of the screen, it causes unnecessary cursor movement. Additionally, accessing the extreme right edge of the screen is quite inconvenient).
The previous position in the middle was perfect, or it would be much easier if the menu opened by right-clicking anywhere on the position.

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

I agree that the right position is not good, results in too much extra cursor movements. On top of it, there was some element flicker when switching between different “tabs” inside the zerodha web page.

I even got this once:

PLEASE focus on providing a complete MOUSE FREE experience for kite web. This update seems very pointless.

Just to confirm that this menu belongs to this particular scrip requires substantial eyeball travel thereby reducing speed and accuracy compared to earlier.
Hovering the mouse over a particular position highlights the whole line. Why can’t I click anywhere on it to open the menu? Won’t that be easier?

You can do this using basket order. Once you have added orders to the basket, you won’t have to enter the quantity and price again, what you entered initially can be used to place the order next time. You can learn more about basket orders here: How to place basket orders on Kite?

i have tried that. its not practical for intraday where we enter and exit lot of positions. in basket i have to double check if im adding right contract, right date, right strike, right quantity, buy or sell etc. instead of going through all this i can just open 4 windows side by side and exit. this process can be made easy with tweak in position page. also this is good for broker as this will generate more brokerage from those who willingly want to break the trade in fewer lots.

+1…it was much faster to exit positions in the previous design as compared to the new one.

During the development process, we discussed these challenges. In the previous design, the menu was placed in an arbitrary column for each table, which could vary depending on the layout. This occasionally led to a lack of uniformity, and the menu might have obscured symbols underneath.

The new design may take some time to adjust to, but we believe that with regular use, it will become more intuitive.

Thanks for your feedback and we encourage you to keep sharing your thoughts, as it helps us identify areas for improvement.

Thank you for the reply @Arockiya_Raja .
Yes, we will get used to it, but it will cause some inconvenience.

  1. When there are many positions, checking which one we’ve selected requires a lot of eye movement from the extreme right to the extreme left. It was much easier before.
  2. Accessing the extreme right is quite inconvenient, although we may eventually get used to it.
  3. When scrolling through the positions in the options menu, the first position’s menu remains open if the cursor overlaps it. This forces us to move the cursor slightly back before scrolling down. Please refer to the screen recording for clarification.

I really appreciate the new options menu, but its position is somewhat inconvenient. I hope you will consider this.

Thank you!

Hello Nitin, Management, Kite Developers and Designers,
This the most counter intuitive design ever. The ellipsis at the extreme end and again clicking some corner buttons to exit position(s) and then editing is simply not productive. I’m losing money because of this.

Please revert back to the old right click context menu. I appreciate it.

You guys are re-inventing the wheel instead of inventing or modifying a missing useful item. All my holdings (both short term and long term are cluttered) if i want to see independently. or as short term basket , long term basket i wont be able to. Why should i see my long term holdings daily? Does it really make sense?

This option to hover over and bring the menu is very much not helpful, previous one was very very good.

Doesn’t look like you guys thought through the design change, like some other mentioned. Why do u keep re inventing the wheel when all the customers dont want it. Pls change it back to original design. Pls remove the hover and open the menu design.

  1. The positions page and order page is separate which is very inconvenient. It would be better if v can see pending orders from positions page itself.
  2. Need grouping like baskets in holdings segment. Like to group short term and long term holdings. Why should i see all the long term holdings daily? does it make sense?
  3. If v have large quantities, exiting all at once is not possible. Then exit all button is of no use.
  4. Try to invent new things which other brokers have and which benefits ur customers rather than just moving things here and there and releasing it as updates. It doesnt make sense. It’s not improvement, its deprovement.

Please move the menu next to the instrument name.

The area of the exit and add buttons have reduced which now needs more mouse control.

Now, the holdings have a different menu and positions have different menu layout.

I am writing on the topic once again as there is no response from Zerodha:

  1. Please revert this back
  2. Or make it anywhere on the position
  3. You must provide a short-key for positions to exit, add

Yes please revert back. This is annoying.
