Nifty Realty index surged more than 4% after many developers posted record provisional sales during the March quarter.

India’s gold imports fell by about 30% to USD 31.8 billion between April and February 2023 due to high customs duties and unrest in the global economy. Over the same time period, silver imports climbed by 66% to USD 5.3 billion: Ministry of Commerce and Industry

Monsoon rains in India this year are likely to be below average at 94% of the long-period average due to the impact of El Nino, which usually brings dry weather to Asia according to the forecasting agency Skymet.

Global PC shipments fell 29% to 56.9M units in Q1 2023 due to weak demand, excess inventory, and a poor economy, says IDC. Apple’s decline was the steepest at 40.5%, followed by Lenovo and Dell with over 30% declines, and HP with a 24.2% decline.

Tata Motors reached a 7-month high, up 5.5%, on the back of strong global wholesale data, which included JLR, which rose 8% year on year to 3,61,361 in the March quarter.

GAIL has announced a reduction in the prices of PNG and CNG by Rs 7 per SCM (standard cubic meter) in Bengaluru and Dakshin Kannada, and by Rs 6 per SCM in all its other geographical areas, in accordance with its new pricing mechanism.

Electric two-wheeler sales in India increased by nearly two-and-a-half fold YoY to 8,46,976 units in 2022–23, according to the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles.

India Meteorological Department predicts normal monsoon in India with 96% long-period average (LPA), despite potential El Nino impact in second half. 60% of El Nino years have seen normal monsoons.

Singapore-based investment company Temasek will purchase an additional 41% share in Manipal Health Enterprises for over 16,300 crores, valuing Manipal Health Enterprises (MHE) at around 40,000 crore, making it the biggest acquisition in the Indian healthcare sector.

Neogen Chemicals Ltd. plans to invest Rs 450 crore as an initial investment to establish a 10,000 metric tonne electrolyte manufacturing capacity in India following a technology transfer agreement with the subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Corp., MU Ionic Solutions Corp.

The consortium led by BHEL with Titagarh Wagons announced that it has bagged an order to supply 80 trains at the rate of Rs 120 crore per train, amounting to Rs 9,600 crore.

Divi’s Laboratories surged 9.65% after showing a 78% MoM recovery at $92 million in March against an average of $55-60 million in the company’s export sales in March 2023.

Japan’s Nikkei rallied for a fourth straight session, helped by signs of consumer spending in department stores and the news that billionaire Warren Buffett is eyeing increasing investments in the country.

The recovery in the domestic aviation industry continued with air passenger traffic logging around 60% YoY growth at 13.60 crores in fiscal 2023, Domestic passenger traffic stood at 1.30 crore in March this year, a growth of around 22% from the March 2022 volume of 1.06 crore.

HDFC Bank announced yesterday that it would consider raising debt of 500 billion rupees (about $6 billion) over the next year.

India’s passenger vehicle sales rose 26.7% to 3.9 million units in FY 2022-23, as chip shortages improved and demand for SUVs increased. Two-wheeler sales increased 16.9%, indicating the financial solidity of India’s lower- to middle-income households: SIAM Data.

The country’s exports grew by roughly 6% to a “record” USD 447 billion in 2022-23, owing to strong development in industries like as petroleum, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and marine, while imports rose by 16.5% to USD 714 billion in 2022-23: Ministry of Commerce and Industry

Anupam Rasayan India signed a $182 million LoI with a leading Japanese multinational to manufacture and supply three high-value specialty chemicals for advanced polymers and liquid crystals.

The US CPI inflation came in at 0.1% MoM, 5% YoY (slowest in 23 months). Expectations of Fed rate hikes may change. However, core CPI, excluding food and energy prices, rose to 5.6% YoY from 5.5% prior month, indicating persistent inflation pressures.
