Retail inflation in India eased to an 11-month low of 5.88% in November from 6.77% in October.

India’s industrial output in October contracted by 4% in October after raising by 3.5% in September. The worst performance of the Indian industry in over two years.

One 97 Communications Ltd, the operator of digital payments provider Paytm, will hold a board meeting tomorrow to discuss a share buyback proposal. According to its most recent earnings report, Paytm has a liquidity of Rs. 9,182 crore.

Air India is planning to order 500 jet planes for tens of billions of dollars. It plans to place these orders with the 2 leading aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus. All the purchases are a part of Tata’s plan to expand and extend its presence in the Indian and global airline industry.

The central government is exploring raising the tax-free threshold to Rs. 5 lakh to make the two-year-old alternative personal income tax regime more appealing. Currently, taxpayers who have taxable income of Rs 2.5 lakh or less do not have to pay income tax.

Dalmia Bharat entered into an agreement to acquire cement, clinker and powerplants from Jaiprakash Associates for Rs. 5,666 crores, with the assets having a total cement capacity of 9.4 million tonnes, clinker capacity of 6.7 million tonnes and thermal power plants of 280 MW.

Indian passenger vehicle wholesales saw a growth of 28% year-on-year in November on robust demand for both utility vehicles and cars: SIAM

The Board of Tata Motors has approved partial divestment of Tata Technologies, it’s wholly owned subsidiary which is into product engineering and digital services through an IPO.

Commercial banks are staging a strong comeback in market share as NBFCs’ share declined to a five-year low of 19.8% in the first half of 2022-23, down from 20.3% in the first half of 2021-22, from an all-time high of 23.1% witnessed in the first half of 2018-19.

Stock that caught my attention today:

Vardhaman Special Steels Limited is engaged in the manufacturing of billet, steel bars and rods, and bars of various categories of special and alloy steels.

The company boasts of excellent profit 5-year CAGR!

Technically a high volume breakout showing on the charts and is nearing all time high!

The wholesale price index based inflation came in at a 21-month low of 5.85% in November. Food inflation fell to a 20-month low of 2.17% from 6.48% in October, owing to a higher base and an overall drop in price pressure in food, fuel, and manufactured goods.

India’s bilateral trade with China rose 34% to $115.83 billion in the 12 months to March 2022. Trade in the current financial year till October stood at $69.04 billion, according to data from the Commerce Ministry.

HDFC Bank acquired a minority stake of 7.75% in Mintoak Innovations for Rs. 31.1 crores. Mintoak is a fintech start-up that provides a payments-led platform offering value-added services to merchants.

As per the data by industry body SEA, India’s edible oil imports spiked 34% in November to 15.29 lakh tonne on a sharp jump in the import of crude palm and refined palm oils, the imports of vegetable oils also rose 32% YoY in November 2022 to 15,45,540 tonne.

Mahindra & Mahindra announced an investment of Rs.10,000 crores for setting up an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Pune seeking at least 30% of its sales to come from such vehicles by 2027.

Inflation in the US eased to 7.1% year-on-year in November, down from 7.7% in October, and grew only 0.1% month-over-month.

Benchmark indexes plunged in the final hour, ending the volatile day down 1.4% following poor global cues and the US Federal Reserve’s hawkish outlook. US stocks are set for a poor opening.

IRCTC dipped over 6.5% after the government announced a stake sale of up to 5% through an offer-for-sale (OFS) at a floor price of Rs 680 a share.

Poonawalla Fincorp (PFL) announced the decision to sell its housing subsidiary Poonawalla Housing Finance (PHFL) to Perseus SG, an affiliate of private equity group TPG Global, at a valuation of Rs 3,900 crore.

The Federal Reserve raised the interest rates by 50 bps to 4.25% -4.5%, the highest level since 2007, to control the worst inflationary pressure to strike the economy in four decades.

China’s retail sales plunged by 5.9% YoY in November and the unemployment rate rose by 0.1% to 5.6% as Covid restrictions and a property market crisis hammered the world’s second-largest economy.

Auto sales registrations rose by 17% in Europe and climbed for a fourth month in November on the back of easing supply-chain issues, Total sales are still down about 6% from the first 11 months of last year: the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association

This company is a engineering and contracts player in the construction space

In terms of financials the company is debt free with high ROE ROCE numbers along with good interest coverage ratio

Technical charts suggest bullishness with price nearing all time highs backed by high volume

Recent brokerage reports and ratings suggest good revenue growth and earnings growth estimates

India’s trade deficit widened to $23.89 billion during November as exports recorded a flat growth of 0.59% YoY to $31.99 billion while imports rose by 5.37% YoY to $55.88 billion.

The Central government has reduced the windfall tax on domestic crude oil export to Rs. 1,700 per tonne from the existing Rs. 4,900 per tonne while also reducing the tax on Aviation Turbine Fuel from Rs. 5 to Rs. 1.5 per litre.

The European Central Bank raised interest rates for the fourth consecutive time from 1.5% to 2% in order to contain the growing inflation and bring it back to its targeted 2% range.

The Eurozone inflation came in at an annualized rate of 10.1% in November 2022, down from 10.6% in October.
