While there are almost 5crore demat accounts in the country, the number of people who have invested directly into stocks once in last year is probably around 80 to 90lk (unique). There are maybe around 1.5 crores who invest through mutual funds. So maybe around 2 crore Indians who are active in the markets directly or indirectly. Btw, I had shared this recently
