Who are the largest brokerage firms in India?

When would Mstock and Sharekhan start showing the consolidated list?

Ofcourse, NO INNOVATION and not providing or delaying new and useful features are the core reasons.
After launching Kite web, they started ignoring their costomers.
They even don’t provide ‘Trading from charts’, ‘Order Slicing’, ‘Scalping friendly platform’ and many more. Infact, their charts hang and don’t work properly. They still use 4 mbps leased line that gets overburdened when there is an influx of large orders. Their order execution speed is 40 ms while Fyers’ is 20 ms. There are many more fields where they are not improving.
They are lagging behind their counterparts in every aspect.
Soon, they will be 5th or even 10th place in this list. No wonder!

Z has strengths. I find their platform simplistic but efficient for algo trading, and prefer them. And dont forget they are more profitable than the others in the top 5 put together

I am also planning to start algo trading soon. Can you please elaborate how is Zerodha API? What is the execution speed in Milliseconds? Is it suitable for latency sensitive strategies? Can I write my strategy in C++ or Python is better with Kite API?
Thanks in advance.

As a retail trader without collocation, it is futile to rely on speed. I use Python. There is hardly any sanctity in high-speed ms execution for most of us. Whats important is reliability and fast-enuf execution. I have not used all, but have used Z, finvasia, Kotak, Dhan - and Z is the best for my purposes.

Was there any instance when your order in Zerodha got delayed or didn’t punch at all? I mean your algo was working perfectly but Zerodha’s server or something from their end caused order execution related issues?

In the past 1 year I have faced issue with Z just once, there could be other small time-outs that didnt affect my trades. Z has been the most reliable of the brokers I use. Nevertheless you will have to keep a watch whatever broker you use, handle all edge cases in code, and atleast alert you in case of unpredictable behaviour.

The growth rate of Zerodha is second poorest after ICICI.
Its interesting to see how GROWW jumped from 2nd place (2022) to 1st place (2023), with a higher growth rate

and increased it even more in 2024.

Dhan has tripled its user base in just a year to 9L+.

Are you working for Dhan?

Nope. Just a happy client.

Here you go,

How is the order execution on Dhan? I mean any delay or glitch? Is it suitable for fast paced scalping (buying and selling in seconds)? Is there any significant slippages you faced in index options?
I am planning to move to Dhan. Please elaborate this further.

Order placement is the fastest that there is and I am not hyping. Don’t know about API order though. The execution is the fastest on Dhan, I trade Kite and Dhan simultaneously and you can feel the difference. Slippages are low.

Glitches, none that I have experienced so far. So far a very stable platform. There was a glitch maybe 1 year back, but then they proactively compensated for all losses incurred due to that.

Order execution is fast, margin updation has been the slowest by far, which is terrible for very active OS who keep rolling positions. But recently there have been updates to address that, but cant confirm if that has solved the problem as I quit selling options on Dhan (now only Fut on Dhan in smaller qty) because of margining issues.

Order execution or margin update or ease of placing orders is fastest on kite, saying not because I am from zerodha but it’s true, one can check on their own.

Dhan is claiming they are executing 90% of their orders within 25 ms with their in-house OMS DEXT.
I think Zerodha uses third party OMS provider, Zerodha’s execution time is 40-80 ms (if I am wrong, pls correct me). Also, ease of placing order is not best in Zerodha, there is no quick order punching for scalpers. There is no option for prefilled quantity, there is no iceberg market orders/automatic order slicing. Zerodha is not scalper friendly.
But, I can say Zerodha is reliable.

As much as I love using Kite, it goes for both. I don’t know about API placements, but for a daily user like me, I have experienced a faster order execution on Dhan.

Everybody claims that their OMS is the best, Dhan claims that their OMS is the best, Zerodha claims that their 3rd party OMS is the best.

For a end user like me, I find a distinctive advantage on Dhan. Kite has a lot to improve on many fronts, and I hope you are pulling together a decisive action plan.

@siva Since you claim that Kite is the fastest in executing trades, would you mind showing us such stats that Dhan releases yearly? This was DEXT update from last June 2024 and things have significantly improved since then.
