I was wondering how much do distributors earn from commissions? With the rising inflows into Mutual Funds, I am guessing that commission earned must be rising too.
Does anybody have any relevant data for the year 2016-17.
Here are the top 10 earners for FY16-17.
According to the commission disclosure by AMFI distributors earned a whopping Rs 5000 crores in FY16-17 compared to Rs 3657 crores in FY15-16. This is insane and clearly, shows the lack of awareness about direct mutual funds among investors.
On top of the commissions, a few of these distributors also have platform fees. For example, these are the charges of ICICI direct.
This post shows the charges of HDFC.
Everyone reading this post should try to educate at least one friend or a family member about the benefits of investing in direct mutual funds. I know it’s easier said than done but the savings speak for themselves.
