I have waiting to Trade in Sensex from Dec 2023. Every time Zerodha support desk says it is still not ready to trade Sensex through Orbis. In the end got frustrated and asked to move account back from Orbis to Zerodha. Can you at least give timeline when BSE F&O will be enabled for Orbis account holders?
Hi Keerthi, please DM your client ID to me. We are working on an alternative. Once it is ready I’ll get you added to the pilot.
Hi mohitmehra,
I have an Orbis account opening request pending for 7-8 weeks now ( [Ticket #20240404768376]).
I’m only getting a reply saying we will push for an E-sign at the earliest, Can you let me know the status, please?
I know your site mentions that it will take 3-4 weeks to migrate but it’s 7+ weeks now.
Regards
Swajit
Hi @Swajit_Gade I’ll check on why this happened for you and get you an update on the ticket itself.
Hi @mohitmehra
Thanks for looking into the matter
I received the Call today, After doing the E-sign on 24th May.
To my surprise, the person(i think his name was junaid) he said that it will take 10-12 days for CP code to Generate. I said okay, I don’t mind. I told him that if it’s taking that much time would concurrently request for the equity segment to be enabled as well. On Zerodha website is mentioned that
" Clients with an active CP code can create a ticket to enable the equity segment. Clients must e-sign the equity agreement, which includes the POA. The segments are enabled within 48 working hours of e-signing"
But to my surprise, he is saying to enable the equity segment it may take them 3-4 months.
I was just taken aback by this statement. which is contradicting what is mentioned on your website. Now I m wondering if doing all this hassle is it worth it ?.
Can you please look into this?
Regards
Swajit
We are in an internal testing stage with the alternative we are readying that will have the pledge option. However, we are still some time away from launch.
I have been hearing this since ages, still pledging is not active. I have lost hope.
Any updates on pledging on Orbis account ?
We are expecting to launch the Zerodha internal CP route. This will include pledging.
But in orbis bfo trading is not available this will impact for trading
Please do allow trading in bfo also it seems better for traders who migrated to orbis
Traders are migrating to orbis to trade in f&o but zerodha is not focusing to allowing in bfo
This will impact for traders will choose to other brokers
When will this be released?
Most of the moving parts are in place. We should be ready with this in a week.
Is this out already?
Any update on this? Come on guys how can a week estimate go beyond month and with no updates? Is it still in works or not?
Hey @Ravi_Shankar
Zerodha has partnered with Orbis Financial, a SEBI-registered custodian, to trade in restricted nifty and bank nifty option strike prices.
All strikes of Nifty and Banknifty options are allowed in intraday (MIS) trades. However, for overnight (NRML) trades, certain strikes are restricted from trading due to SEBI regulations that prescribe market-wide Open Interest (OI) limits.
SEBI regulations mandate an upper limit on the OI of each F&O contract at every broker, set at 500 crores or 15% (whichever is higher) of the total OI for that specific contract across the market.
Zerodha has a considerable number of active users trading index options, there are restrictions on buying OTM (Out of the Money) options for specific strikes to maintain OI limits within the allowed ranges.
Opening an Orbis account helps client to trade in these strikes. You check on this link to know more on opening an Orbis account.
